Two weeks of pike fishing in Ireland: an unforgettable adventure

Ireland, an exceptional playground for pike fishing.

From May 11 to May 22, 2026, I finally had the chance to experience a long-awaited trip: two weeks of pike fishing in Ireland. For this adventure, I trusted Voyage Pêche Irlande, a specialized organization that helps anglers access the best fishing areas across the country. Moreover, their setup is designed to optimize every session on the water.

This trip was done solo. The main goal was simple: fully enjoy vast Irish waters and target pike in a wild, technical, and demanding environment.

A difficult first week

Ireland river pike

At first, things did not go as planned. Fish activity was low from the beginning. In addition, weather conditions kept changing constantly, which made locating pike very difficult.

As a result, I spent long hours exploring different areas and testing various approaches. However, the outcomes remained modest, even if a few fish still rewarded the effort.

That said, this first week was not negative at all. On the contrary, Irish landscapes were breathtaking. The lakes felt endless, and every session brought new insights into fish behaviour, even during slow periods.

Meanwhile, the pleasure of being on the water never disappeared.

The turning point of the second week

During the second week, everything changed. Fish behaviour shifted noticeably. Therefore, active zones became much easier to identify.

Bites also became more frequent. As a result, the fishing rhythm turned far more consistent and productive.

Day after day, confidence returned. At the same time, results kept improving steadily, with more active fish in the areas being worked.

The lure of the trip

Zand Curly 24 cm - Natural Lantern

If there was one standout lure, it was the Zand Curly 24 cm. Throughout the two weeks, it clearly proved its effectiveness in Irish conditions.

Its wide swimming action and strong vibrations matched perfectly the different bank spots I fished. Consequently, a large portion of the catches came from this model.

When such consistency appears over an entire trip, one lure naturally stands out. In this case, the Zand Curly 24 cm played a decisive role in the success of the second week.

The long-awaited fish

As the trip was coming to an end, only one final day remained. This moment is always special, since everything can still change at any time.

During this last session from the bank, I finally felt the bite every angler dreams of. Immediately, the hookset confirmed a good-sized fish.

The fight was controlled rather than spectacular. However, the emotion came instantly when the fish surfaced. At that moment, fatigue and frustration from the first week completely disappeared.

An adventure I will never forget

Beyond the catches, this trip will remain defined by the beauty of Irish landscapes and the long hours spent on the water. Above all, it reflects the unique emotions that only fishing can deliver.

Indeed, the first week shows how unpredictable fishing can be. Meanwhile, the second week demonstrates how quickly everything can turn around.

Ultimately, this is what makes the experience so powerful: constant uncertainty, right up to the final moment.

One thing is certain: this Irish adventure will remain engraved in my memory for a long time.
