First Tests of Zand Fat in the South of France with Michael and Matthieu

As our flagship novelty for 2023, the Zand Fat stands out as a highly versatile shad. Michael and Matthieu quickly tested it for freshwater fishing during the fall of 2022. After several intense sessions, they now provide their feedback. Although they targeted different species with distinct techniques, both experts agree: this lure is extremely effective!

Michael’s Strategy: Hunting Black Bass

Initially, Michael decided to hunt his favorite predator: the Black Bass. To begin with, the 10cm unmounted version of the Zand Fat caught his eye. Specifically, he chose natural colors like Green Waka and Galactic Crocodile because the water remained very clear.

However, traditional weightless rigs only produced small fish. Consequently, Michael decided to break the rules. By mounting the lure on a heavy 10g head, he opted for a fast, aggressive animation with sharp tip strokes. Surprisingly, this change triggered violent reflex attacks from much larger specimens. This proves that the Zand Fat excels at high-speed prospecting, especially when the water is warm!

Matthieu’s Results: Percids and Trophy Zander

In contrast, Matthieu focused his freshwater fishing tests on Zander and Perch in the South of France. Because the Zand Fat features a flexible body and a large paddle, it swims perfectly even at ultra-low speeds. Moreover, this big paddle emits strong vibrations that attract fish from a distance, even in heavy water conditions.

Furthermore, Matthieu achieved an incredible result in a reservoir by catching a **90cm Zander from the shore**. Visibly, the Fire Tiger color drove the fish crazy! Once again, simplicity was key. By using a Pro jig head and a slow linear retrieve over the bottom, he triggered a strike so powerful it almost snatched the rod from his hands.

Conclusion

To conclude, the Zand Fat is already seducing many anglers due to its extreme versatility. Whether you use a classic jig head, a Texan rig, or use it as a trailer for a spinnerbait, it adapts to every situation. Ultimately, Michael and Matthieu’s success shows that this lure works perfectly for both lightning-fast prospecting and slow-motion bottom scratching.
